Thursday October 8, 2009 ALA general manager John Rutledge addressed the staff of Coldwell Banker Sky Ridge Realty, Arrowhead Home Loans, and Alpine Escrow on the topic of ALA's new policy with regard to Conveyance of Pier Site Easments. The new policy and a copy of the ALA's Frequently Asked Questions can be found as an attachement to this blog post.
John presented the new ALA policy that became effective September 1, 2009 that will require a seller of a lakefront property that wishes to convey a pier site easment in conjunction with a sale to identify the boundary between the ALA reserve strip and the subject property. What will be required is for the boundary to be located and identified through a survey.
"John as always did an excellent job of representing and clarifying the ALA's new policy. We appreciate the good working relationship we have with him and the ALA", stated Steve Keefe Broker/Owner of Coldwell Banker Sky Ridge Realty. Keefe went on to say: "this new intiative is important because it will assist new buyers in better understanding the boundaries and how the reserve strip works. Generally, we as an industry are opposed to any type of point of sale compliance requirements... in this instance it really is in everyones best interest to be clear on the boundary. ALA has our full support in this initiative."
